Freight to Uzbekistan from Turkey and China

BNK Logistics moves cargo from Turkey and China to Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara, the Fergana Valley and Karakalpakstan by road, rail and Caspian-linked routes. We agree the entry gate, route and documents with you before the truck leaves.

Freight to Uzbekistan from Turkey and China

Uzbekistan is doubly landlocked: neither it nor any of its neighbours has a coastline. A load from Turkey crosses at least two transit countries, and a load from China arrives through Kazakhstan or Kyrgyzstan. The key planning question is therefore whether the cargo enters from the north or from the west. We answer that for each shipment based on the destination city, the cargo and the border situation on the shipment date. For a regional overview of all five countries, see our Central Asia freight page.

What we do on Uzbekistan shipments

  • Understand the load: addresses, cargo type, packing, pallet count, dimensions, weight and target date decide between full truck (FTL) and groupage (LTL).
  • Choose the entry: we compare the western entry via Iran and Turkmenistan, the northern entry via Kazakhstan and the Caspian route via Beyneu.
  • Prepare permits and visas: transit documents, the Turkmenistan transit permit and driver visas are arranged before departure.
  • Match documents before loading: product description, package count and weight must be identical on the invoice, packing list and CMR.
  • Coordinate with the consignee: we confirm the customs broker, unloading address and any extra documents with your buyer in Russian.
  • Share a tracking link: factory departure, border exit, transshipment, delivery dates, current location and shared documents in one place.

Routes from Turkey to Uzbekistan

Transit times are approximate and vary with border queues, ferry schedules, permits and season. Route and border conditions are confirmed during planning for the actual shipment date.

RouteApprox. transitStrengthWatch point
West: Gürbulak → Tabriz → Tehran → Mashhad → Sarakhs → Turkmenistan → Farap–Alat → Bukhara9–13 daysShortest land distance to Samarkand, Bukhara and Navoi; no ferryTurkmenistan transit permit and designated-route rules
North: Georgia → Upper Lars → Russia → Kazakhstan → Shymkent → Tashkent9–12 daysDirect entry for Tashkent and the Fergana ValleyQueues at Upper Lars and the Kazakh–Uzbek border; winter closures
Caspian: Georgia → Azerbaijan → Alat port → ferry → Aktau → Beyneu → Nukus11–15 daysAvoids Russia and Iran; good for KarakalpakstanFerry timing and wind; long desert stretch
Rail: Baku–Tbilisi–Kars → Caspian ferry → Kazakh or Turkmen rail → Tashkent14–20 daysLower cost per tonne for containers and bulky cargoLast mile by road; wagon allocation

Main road gates include Farap (Turkmenistan)–Alat (Uzbekistan) for the western route, Yallama and Zhibek Zholy–Gishtkuprik on the Shymkent–Tashkent axis (Gishtkuprik has been under reconstruction, so traffic is periodically redirected), and Tazhen–Daut-Ata on the Beyneu–Nukus road. The gate open to trucks is confirmed on the shipment date. We run the Iran leg together with our Iran freight service.

From China to Uzbekistan

China-origin cargo is a core part of our Central Asia work. By rail, containers cross into Kazakhstan at Khorgos (Altynkol) or Dostyk and continue on the Kazakh network to Tashkent terminals, with road delivery for the last mile. By road, we consider Kashgar–Irkeshtam–Osh–Andijan into the Fergana Valley, or Kazakhstan to Tashkent. The China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway is under construction; current plans use existing lines. We can talk to your Chinese supplier in Chinese about loading dates, packing and documents. See also China freight and Kazakhstan freight.

Choosing the model

  • Full truck (FTL): up to about 33 euro pallets and 24 tonnes, firm delivery dates, temperature control. No transshipment, one customs file.
  • Groupage (LTL): a few pallets, regular small shipments or samples. Consolidation adds a few days; Tashkent is one of the region's most common groupage destinations. See groupage freight.
  • Rail / intermodal: containerisable, bulky, time-tolerant cargo.
  • Refrigerated: food, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, especially in summer.

Document checklist

  • Commercial invoice and packing list (identical description, package count and weight to the CMR)
  • Certificate of origin
  • CMR consignment note and TIR carnet
  • Export declaration
  • Transit permits, Turkmenistan transit permit and driver visas
  • Uzbek national conformity certificate or registration where required (food, cosmetics, electrical goods); technical passport for machinery; phytosanitary or veterinary certificates for agri-food

Uzbekistan is not a member of the Eurasian Economic Union and applies its own customs rules, so cargo entering via Kazakhstan is cleared again in Uzbekistan. Import duties are usually paid on the buyer's side, but responsibility depends on the agreed Incoterms. All requirements are confirmed against current regulations.

Seasonal planning

In summer, desert stretches in the Kyzylkum can approach 45°C, so heat-sensitive goods need pre-cooling, insulated packing or a reefer. In winter, Upper Lars closures, steppe blizzards and snow in northern Iran slow the transit countries, and we keep a second route ready. Around Nowruz in late March, border processing can slow down. In autumn, Caspian winds can delay ferries.

What affects the price

We do not publish fixed rates. Each quote reflects the route and number of transit countries, transit and road fees, ferry and port costs, volume and weight, special equipment, season and border congestion, backhaul availability, fuel and exchange rates. Our quote states clearly which items are included.

Frequently asked questions

How long does freight from Turkey to Uzbekistan take?

By road, allow roughly 9–13 days via Iran and Turkmenistan and 9–12 days via Kazakhstan. The Caspian ferry route takes about 11–15 days and rail 14–20 days. Border queues, ferry timing and season change these ranges.

Can I send groupage to Tashkent?

Yes. We plan groupage for loads of a few pallets. Consolidation adds a few days compared with a full truck; we confirm the loading date and options when quoting.

Which route is best for Samarkand and Bukhara?

The western route via Iran, Turkmenistan and the Farap–Alat gate is usually shorter. When Turkmen transit conditions are unfavourable, we use the northern route via Tashkent. The choice is confirmed for the shipment date.

Do you ship from China to Uzbekistan?

Yes. We compare rail via Khorgos or Dostyk, road via Irkeshtam–Osh–Andijan, and road via Kazakhstan, depending on volume and urgency.

Who handles customs clearance in Uzbekistan?

Import clearance is normally handled by the consignee's customs broker in Uzbekistan, and duty responsibility follows the agreed Incoterms. We coordinate documents and unloading details with the buyer before departure.

What documents are needed?

The core set is commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, CMR, TIR carnet and export declaration. Some goods need Uzbek conformity certificates or a technical passport. Requirements are confirmed against current regulations.
